Hello! I’m Teresa, and I’m thrilled that you’re here at my little corner of the internet. It will be wonderful having you with me on this adventure of creating delicious food, taking beautiful pictures of it, and enjoying it with the people we love.
There is a small chocolate shop in a mountain town in Oregon that serves the most wonderful antidote to a hot summer’s day – Iced Hot Chocolate. Now, this is not the plain old chocolate milk you may have had as a child, nor is it a plain hot chocolate. This is an Iced Hot Chocolate. In other words, all the silky chocolate flavor found when you melt chocolate into hot milk, only: ice-cold.
Iced Hot Chocolate is super easy – perfect for all the pool parties, hotdog roasts, and backyard barbecues that go with summer. Cheers!

Okay. We’re ready to go here with our favorite brand of milk chocolate and whichever milk you like the best. One brand of chocolate I like is Green & Blacks, since they’re organic… their milk chocolate is really creamy, and works beautifully in this drink. And then I like to use whole cow’s milk, since it’s more creamy than other kinds of milk.
how to make the iced hot chocolate…
In a small saucepan, heat the chocolate and milk just until the chocolate is melted – you aren’t trying to cook the mixture, just melting the chocolate. Be rather careful, stirring often, as you don’t want it to stick. If you like, add some cinnamon. Another option would be to use white chocolate – you do you!
As soon as the chocolate is fully melted, take it off the heat. Fill a 16 ounce glass with ice, and pour the hot chocolate over it.
And ta-da! Top with whipped cream and/or shaved chocolate, and you have a gorgeous iced hot chocolate.
If you make this recipe, I want to know what you think! Leave a comment and give the recipe a rating – hearing about your cooking adventures always makes my day.
